The liver cleanse
For some reason, I find myself at a yoga and meditation retreat in Spain. Here it’s all about well-being, mindfulness, healthy eating and juicing. I couldn’t have chosen any better, really.
Last night, we had a workshop with Javi, also known as “Doctor Coach”, a doctor in natural medicine. Javi studied with Chamans in Costa Rica for about 9 years, and he also studied Chinese medicine. In other words, he knows what is talking about.
Last night’s workshop was about cleansing the liver and the gallbladder of the toxins. If these two are clean and healthy, you’ll be too.
The liver is probably the most important and hard-working organ of our body – it processes anything we drink and eat, and it also breaks down fats and produces energy. It’s such an important organ, you want to taking care of it.
1. You can do the following cure for 3 weeks in a row, twice a year.
1 lemon freshly squeezed
1 tablespoon of olive oil
Mix the lemon and olive oil. Drink it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, but don’t add water! Wait another 30 minutes until you have anything else to eat and drink.
2. The second best way to cleanse your liver is to eliminate everything that create the problems in the first place : coffee, alcohol, fried food, processed food, animal fat, white flour and pork. Find healthy alternatives to these bad boys: herbal tea, plant-based milk, vegetable oil, whole flour, etc.
Obviously, since the liver acts as the first body filter, it is recommended to drink plenty of water. And if you’re not big fan of plain water, add a bit of lemon or mint.
