Homemade hemp seed milk is my new thing. It is delicate, tasty and creamy, a real discovery. It is quite expensive when you buy it in a shop, much cheaper if you make it yourself. It is ready in only a few minutes with only 2 ingredients: hemp seeds and water.
Hemp seeds have great nutritional value. They are full of high quality vegetal proteins, good fats and minerals.
They're a great way for vegan and vegetarian to get enough protein in their diet.
In addition to their high nutritional value, hempseeds offer many benefits:
Their fatty acid content makes them highly recommended for the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
They contribute to the proper functioning of the immune system
They are a powerful antioxidant (fatty acids and vitamins A and E)
It is worth mentioning that hempseeds do not contain THC.
Ingredients
Hempseeds, 100 g
Filtered water, 1 l
Optional :
Spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, vanilla, etc.
Natural sweeteners: honey, agave syrup, etc.
Recipe
Soak the seeds in a large volume of water, ideally overnight, so about 12 hours. You can also leave them for 48 hours, replacing the water every 8 hours to prevent them from fermenting, but allowing them to germinate a little (a 2 to 3 millimetre sprout), which will make the milk even more tasty.
After soaking, rinse the seeds gently in clean water to avoid damaging them.
Add all the ingredients in a blender.
Blend for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is white and smooth.
Strain through a cheesecloth or fine strainer.
Put the milk obtained in an airtight glass bottle and keep it in a cool place.
This milk keeps very well for 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator.
Shake well before every use.
Note that you can add more or less water. The amount of water you choose will give you a richer and smoother texture.
Give it your own personal touch
You can " flavour " your hemp milk and make it even more unique!
My favourite:
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 pinch of salt
You can also add vanilla extract or a natural sweetener such agave syrup, honey, etc.
And that's it!
