This super green juice is super refreshing, perfect for a sunny afternoon snack – not too sweet so you don’t get a sugar rush. It’s quite filling – ideal if you’d rather not nibble on food.

Ingredients

  • Golden Delicious Apple, 2 (you could you Granny Smith)

  • Pear, 1

  • Lemon, 1/2

  • Cucumber, 4-5 cm

  • Green bell pepper, 1/2

  • Celery, 1 stalk

  • Kale, 2-3 branches

  • Coriander, a handful

  • 1/2 avocado

  • Ginger, a bit chunk (3-4cm if you like it spicy)

Tips and Procedure

Start with one of the apples and the leaves (kale and coriander).

Here is a nice tip that I’ve learned watching videos on how to get the most juice out of your leafy greens (Jason Vale, the Juice Master is of good advice). Cut the apples into halves. Put one 1/2 in the juicer, then throw in a bunch of spinach nicely rolled up (kale/coriander/parsley, etc.), and finally throw the other 1/2 apple on top of it. Why? The apples keep the leaves compacted, so you get the most green juice possible.

Juice the rest of fruits and vegetables (not the avocado yet) and make sure you finish off with the second apple.

Pour the juice in a blender with the avocado and a few ice cubes (optional), blend until smooth. Enjoy!

Health benefits of leafy greens

The following can easily be juiced (or blended): kale, collard greens, spinach, broccoli, cabbage and watercress.

They are incredibly healthy – and in my opinion, tasty as well. Leafy vegetables help improve health and boost weight loss because they are full of fibre, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, and plant-based substances that help prevent from diabetes, heart disease, and even cancer. And on top of that, they also slow down the ageing process. Make sure you get plenty!
