Ayurvedic Yoga Massage
The healing fusion of Yoga and Ayurveda, where touch, stretch, and breath become therapy.
For Balance, Recovery, and Renewal.

Whether you’re looking to relieve pain, reduce stress, improve posture and mobility, or simply reconnect with your breath, Ayurvedic Yoga Massage offers a personalised experience tailored to your needs. Each session nurtures the union of body and mind, enhancing flexibility, clarity, and overall well-being.
Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (AYM) is a profound fusion of ancient Indian healing traditions, Ayurveda and Yoga. Developed by Master Kusum Modak of Pune, India, this method elegantly blends deep tissue oil massage, Iyengar-inspired assisted stretches, and synchronised breathwork in a seamless treatment that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit.

During the session, you're gently guided through hands-and-feet massage strokes using oil often infused with calamus powder, a plant-based exfoliant with detoxifying, energizing qualities. This combination promotes deep relaxation, released tension, improved posture, and enhanced mobility.
As the massage eases tension and releases tightness, the receiver transitions into passive yoga stretches aligned with rhythmic, mindful breathing that flows naturally throughout the treatment.

What to expect during the treatment

-
During the Massage
You’ll lie on a padded floor mat, which supports a fuller range of movement than a massage table. The session combines oil massage, assisted yoga stretches, and guided breathwork, with pressure adjusted to your comfort level. Expect a mix of flowing strokes, deeper releases, and gentle passive stretches.

-
After the Massage
Most people feel deeply relaxed, lighter, and more open in both body and mind. It’s normal to feel an immediate sense of calm, along with improved flexibility and posture. Some clients also notice an energy boost and greater clarity in the days that follow.

-
Aftercare Suggestions
-
Drink plenty of water to support detoxification.
-
Allow yourself some quiet time if possible, so your body can fully absorb the benefits.
-
Gentle movement or stretching later in the day can help maintain the flow created during the session.
-
If receiving a series of treatments, you may notice cumulative improvements in flexibility, posture, and overall well-being.

How is this massage performed?

-
Deep Tissue Oil Massage
Using warm natural oil mixed and detoxifying Calamus root powder, I apply firm yet sensitive strokes with both hands and feet. This technique releases tension, stimulates circulation, detoxifies, and nourishes the skin.

-
Assisted Yoga Stretches
Inspired by Iyengar yoga, I gently guide you through passive stretches that open the body, increase flexibility, and restore mobility. These stretches are adapted to your individual needs, supporting alignment without strain.

-
Breathwork & Rhythm
Throughout the session, you are encouraged to synchronize your breath with the movements. This deepens relaxation, enhances energy flow, and helps you stay present in the experience.

-
Hands & Feet Techniques
One of the unique features of Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is the use of both hands and feet to apply pressure. On some area of the body I may use their feet for broader, deeper strokes and hands for precision work, creating a balance between strength and sensitivity.

-
Flow & Integration
Rather than being a series of isolated steps, the massage is practiced as a seamless dance of touch, stretch, and breath. Each phase naturally leads to the next, leaving you with a sense of lightness, openness, and deep inner balance.

-
Multi-sensory Nourishment
The nourishing oil and calamus blend relaxes tissues, enhances skin vitality, and supports detoxification, while breathwork activates the parasympathetic nervous system for deep relaxation.

-
Tailored to You
Every session is personalised based on your current needs—whether it's releasing deep muscle tension, improving flexibility, or restoring energy balance.

Frequently Asked Questions

-
Do I need to be flexible to receive Ayurvedic Yoga Massage?
Not at all. The stretches are fully assisted and adapted to your body’s needs. The treatment is designed to help increase flexibility and mobility over time, no matter your starting point.

-
Is the massage painful?
You may feel a deep release as tension is worked out of the muscles, but the pressure is always adjusted to your comfort level. Most clients describe the experience as a combination of intensity and relief, leaving them lighter and more relaxed.

-
How many sessions will I need?
Even one session can leave you feeling more open and relaxed. However, a series of treatments often brings the best results, especially if you’re working with chronic tension, stress, or postural patterns.

-
Is it suitable for everyone?
Ayurvedic Yoga Massage can be adapted for many people, but it may not be suitable in cases of acute injury, recent surgery, or certain medical conditions. We’ll discuss your health background before the session to make sure it’s safe and supportive for you.
Not suitable for pregnant women.

-
How long is a session?
Sessions are typically 60, 75 or 90 minutes. A shorter session is ideal as an introduction, while a longer session allows for deeper release and integration.
