The wonderful man I used to live with got the flu, but he had decided he wouldn’t take any medication. Fair enough; I made him drink slow juices for about 3 days, and it worked like a charm!
I’m a firm believer that nature has everything we need to treat ourselves; actually, medication should be the alternative, not the other way round. Food has super powers; fruit, vegetables and herbs have therapeutic effects – more than you will ever know!
The green juice
Limes, 2 (peeled)
Green apples, 2
Cucumbers, 2
Kale, 5 leaves
Coriander, a handful
Mint, a handful (optional)
Run all ingredients through a (slow) juicer – start and finish with the apples. Serve over ice and enjoy!
The orange juice
Oranges, 2 (or mandarins, 3)
Carrot, 1 large or 2 medium
Orange bell pepper, 1 (or red bell pepper)
Lemon, 1 (or lime)
Fresh ginger, 3 cm
Fresh turmeric, 2 cm 1/2
Run all ingredients through a (slow) juicer – start and finish with the oranges. Serve over ice and enjoy!
The red juice
Beet root, 1 large
Green apples, 2
Fresh spinach leaves, 1 handful
Cucumber, 1
Lemon, 1
Run all ingredients through a (slow) juicer – start and finish with the apples. Serve over ice and enjoy!
The yellow juice
Pineapple, 1/2
Royal Gala apples, 2
Lemon, 1
Orange, 1
Fresh ginger, 3 cm
Run all ingredients through a (slow) juicer – start and finish with the apples. Serve over ice and enjoy!
